Despite being one of the most followed novel and movie franchises in the world, the Lord of the Rings
series has struck out when it comes to video games. With deep, rich mythology and an infinitely expandable universe, it’s interesting to find that developers have trouble taking the source material and translating it into an enjoyable interactive experience.
The Lord of the Rings is a high fantasy epic written by English philologist and University of Oxford professor J.R.R. Tolkien. The story began as a sequel to Tolkien’s earlier, less complex children’s fantasy novel The Hobbit (1937), but eventually developed into a much larger work.
It was written in stages between 1937 and 1949, much of it during the Second World War. It is the second best selling novel ever written, with over 150 million copies sold.
Lord of the Rings is a co-operative game where the objects is to destroy the Ring while surviving the corrupting influence of Sauron.
